Snowy Mountains and El Presidente

The New Year started out with a bang, SNOW! We had snow IN TOWN, which is a rarity, and on our mountains.

I had to take a drive to get some photos of the legendary Superstition Mountains under snow (I was not the only one with that idea). Sadly, the powder did not last long. And we've already had record warm days since.

The Four Peaks had a bit more snow, with the peaks mostly cloud-covered.

And then President Obama came to town and I scored an invite to hear him speak. What an opportunity! I had VIP tickets, and was lucky enough to be in the room and pretty close.

Green Ticket = VIP = AWESOME.

The only problem was this big light coming from the other side of the room. It made photos difficult for my puny little camera. All, things considered, the photos came out okay.

POTUS in action. I want to know this Secret Service guy's story.
He looked fierce. I wonder if his fancy tie held a secret weapon.

Big things are afoot in the writing world too. I'm part of a new writing program, with new writer friends, assignments, and it's all in service of finishing a novel by the end of the year.

I am beyond ready for this!
